Dedicated Immigration Services for Crime Victims in Utah

The immigration system gives crime victims the ability to gain immigrant status. Similarly, the system encourages people to report crimes and assist in prosecutions by granting immigration benefits to those who do so.

Keen Law Offices, LLC, helps clients obtain visas if they were victimized by a criminal act and have assisted authorities in pursuing the case. Our law firm is different than most in our ability and desire to take on cases involving both immigration and criminal law. Located in Orem, Utah, we serve clients in Provo, Salt Lake City and throughout the state. To speak with a compassionate, skilled Orem victim visa attorney at our office, call 866-298-9275 (toll free) or 801-851-1480 (local). You can also contact our law firm online.

U-Visas for Crime Victims

U-visas give temporary immigration benefits to foreign nationals who:

  • Suffered physical or mental harm as a result of being victimized by a crime in the U.S.;
  • Reported the crime to authorities; and
  • Assisted authorities in investigating the crime or prosecuting the offender.

U-visas can be granted to applicants who did not legally enter the U.S. Visas are also available for the spouse, children and siblings of the crime victim. Keen Law Offices, LLC, handles more U-visa applications than most firms in Utah. We have strong relationships with area law enforcement, prosecutors and judges, whose cooperation is needed when filing a U-visa application. We will work hard to help you obtain one of the 10,000 U-visas that are available each year.

Visas Based on the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA)

VAWA allows victims of domestic violence to obtain immigration status without needing to ask for sponsorship from an abusive U.S. citizen or permanent resident. To qualify for a visa, a VAWA petitioner must:

  • Be married or have been married to an abusive spouse who is a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident; and
  • Be a person of "good moral character."

Our Utah immigration attorneys can help you file your application through the United States Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) or take your case to immigration court.

T-Visas for Human Trafficking Victims

If you were brought to the U.S. and forced to work hard labor or were forced into prostitution to pay for your passage, we encourage you to talk to us about applying for a T-visa. These visas are specifically for victims of this kind of human trafficking. Visas are also available to the spouse, parents and children of trafficking victims.
